ICYMI this week we released Reckless Hearts. This was book two in our Hibiscus Hearts series and belonged to Alana & Flynn. We are always both nervous and excited about release day. Excited because we can’t wait to share a new couple’s story with you all, nervous that it won’t live up to expectations. But in the end, as with every release, all we end up being is disappointed.

We don’t say this for any other reason than we’ve decided this year is our year for being honest about how fucking hard this writing gig is. How you can pour hours and dollars into writing a book, only for it to fall into a black hole the second you release it. How you can build up an ARC team and send out free advance copies of the book, only to have half the team ghost you and never post a review. How it can sometimes feel like this is all a huge waste of time and effort and money, no matter how much we love writing. And yep we get it, there are LOADS of books out there. We aren’t looking to crack best-seller lists or get a Netflix deal or whatever, but selling copies of our book in the double digits on release day (or ever) would be nice. But just like the 38 books we wrote prior to Reckless Hearts, we doubt that’s going to happen.

So enough of our honest sob story. What we do want to say is that to every ARC team member and reader who has picked up one of our books and read and reviewed it. Thank you. You make this hard work seem a little less hard. We appreciate you more than you know.
