So there’s a lot of talk out in book world about trigger warnings and whether authors should use them. We have always chosen not to, even though we understand that some readers like them and by not having them, we risk putting some people off.
So why don’t we use them? There’s not a simple answer for this and it’s probably a combination of several factors. One of them is us not wanting to put any pre-conceived ideas into the reader’s head about any of our books before they’ve even turned to the first page. Another is that we think long and hard about our storylines and what we chose to include in them. We never, ever put a trigger topic in just for shock value. Everything you read in our books has a purpose and a point and we aren’t trying to do anything other than tell the story we’ve created together. Also, we firmly believe in writing about realistic and relatable topics, things you may be talking about with your friends or seeing reported about on the TV. Yes, we know reading is an escape for many, but that doesn’t mean we can’t make it real and unfortunately, sometimes in life, shit gets real.
You’re probably wondering why we’re bringing this up, especially given we’re about to release Adam & Mila’s duet, Tempt Me and Trust Me. Well, in short, we’re letting you know that there may be some things in this duet that not everyone is comfortable talking about. Does that mean it needs a trigger warning? We don’t think so, but we fully understand that some people might think differently. Please be rest assured that nothing is written to be offensive or off-putting, nor is it done in any detail.
We hope you can go into these books in the same way you’ve gone into all our books, with excitement and trust that we are going to give you a story worth reading. Plus, while Adam and Mila’s story is heartbreakingly beautiful, it’s also so much more than that. It’s a story about healing and growth, about facing your past and becoming stronger because of that. And of course, it’s about love and finding that person who just gets you. You really don’t want to miss this! These two are truly swoon-worthy 💛💛💛
