When we write our books, we never really plot and we don’t write to deadlines either. This is mainly because we don’t like to feel constrained and we also tend view our stories as an ever-changing work in progress. We did try to plot once, when we started writing the Badger Creek Duet Series, and to say it was a disaster would be an understatement! We had a plan that looked like one of those crime scene murder boards, complete with way too many weird and complex character hook-ups! We spent several hours on the phone to each other trying to unravel it all, but ultimately we ditched the whole thing and went back to our standard “fly by the seat of our pants, hot mess” approach! And we’ve never looked back.
In any case, as a result of this “wing it and see” approach we use, sometimes things get cut and sometimes things get re-written. And sometimes, we might write some bonus stuff too, which usually goes out first to our newsletter subscribers (along with a bunch of other cool stuff!).
